It is said that the Laba Festival comes from the custom of "Red Beans Fighting Ghosts".Legend has it that Zhuanxu, one of the five ancient emperors, turned into evil spirits after his three sons died, and came out to frighten the children.In ancient times, people generally believed in superstition, were afraid of ghosts and spirits, and believed that adults and children suffered strokes and poor health due to epidemic ghosts.These evil ghosts are not afraid of heaven and earth, they are only afraid of red (red) beans, so there is a saying that "red beans beat ghosts".Therefore, on the eighth day of the twelfth lunar month, red bean and red bean are used to make porridge to dispel the epidemic and welcome auspiciousness.

Zhu Yuanzhang cooks porridge

Qin Shihuang built the Great Wall
